Prince of Wales’s Institute

Prince of Wales’s Institute
In architecture, as in farming and countryside management, Prince Charles is essentially a traditionalist worried about a headlong dash for modernity that may cause irreparable harm to the environment and the people inhabiting it. Though experts who insist they ‘know best’ are generally outraged, his opinions are often shared by the public at large. As well as airing his views at speaking engagements, writing A Vision of England (1989) and developing Poundbury near Dorchester as a model village to express his ideals in practice, he founded in 1992 the Prince of Wales’s Institute in London to train architects and planners in blending traditional values with modern styles and techniques.
